We recently participated in WAN-IFRA’s Data Science Day and exchanged experiences about AI and LLMs with professionals from the news industry!
Even though we use AI and large language models in our customer projects on a daily basis, we can’t test all the rapidly emerging AI technologies and LLM developments. Fortunately, events like last week’s Data Science Day organized by WAN-IFRA in Prague allow us to exchange insights with our colleagues from the media sector.
We met data experts from media houses all over Europe. While we enjoyed their case studies and engaging presentations, the best part was the workshops and roundtable discussions about first-hand experiences with data, AI, and other trends. We discussed the challenges we all face and shared our strategies for tackling them.
- Many media houses are experimenting with retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to improve access to relevant information in their archives, a task that becomes increasingly complex with extensive archives, such as the 200-year collection at Mediahuis (thank you, Bart and Lisa, for sharing your experiences with such a project).
- Personalization of content for the audience is an inevitable approach online media has to take, and Generative AI and tailored personalization algorithms make it so much easier.
The consensus is clear: embracing data, undergoing digital transformation, and automating processes represent the future for media. If you are interested in how we at Geneea are helping media houses on their journey, don’t hesitate to contact us.
